You could frame the television like a painting (with help from specialty framers) and hang it above the fireplace, but the notion of "Masterpiece Theater" as Old Master is questionable.
Whether it is a pedigreed oil painting of the family (in the best of cases, a Sargent) or a plucky image of oneself (perhaps a Warhol, but probably not a Freud), people love to keep representations of their relatives near at hand.
This was probably for the best, since dinner the night before consisted of foie gras and a dessert called a chocolate volcano, which left Conor (my heir) looking like a painting by Jackson Pollock.
